You must be wondering about whom i am talking about.NO,its not me,which would have been you guess.Infact it is about our young ODI cricket skipper,the new pin up boy of Indian cricket.Yes,i am talking about Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
I have read his comments about the role of senior players or rather about the senior players and i was surprised.Because personally i dont think Dhoni has enough experience and maturity to talk about senior players.I agree that he has been a very good, infact a great leader,but this does not entitle him to say whatever he wants to.Somebody should remind him that it was Sachin Tendulkar who provided the team with great starts in both the finals.I dont think Sachin is a KID(even though he sounds like one).
And now we hear Irfan Pathan saying things like “Only performances should be the basis for selection”, a player who was very inconsistent during the tour Down Under, but who has the backing of the skipper.He has also gone to the extent of saying that Dhoni is ‘Incomparable’ when it comes to backing of players.This makes me wonder because it was under Sourav Ganguly that he made his debut and it was Ganguly’s inspirational comeback story that gave him the right motivation,which he has accepted publicly.
As i said Dhoni is a great leader,knows what he is doing and is getting the results the team,the country and the people need.But he should not have spoken about the players who gave so much for the country.And least of all the timing of the comment(s) because we are going to play South Africa in less than a week’s time and the test team needs senior players.So what can we say about Dhoni…….ARROGANT or CHARISMATIC…….You decide.Lets hope that our GUYS are professional enough and the mood in the dressing room is serene.
